FOR TODAY -October 12, 2009

Outside my window… it is dark and coooooold!

I am thinking… about the week ahead.

I am thankful for… girls who slept until 6 am this morning, after getting up before 5 am for the past two days…

From the kitchen… feel like baking, but don’t know what just yet.

I am wearing… well, I’m still in my jammies, getting my girls breakfast and making coffee.

I am creating… nothing yet, but I’ve got the whole day ahead of me.

I am going… to go wake my hubby up. =)

I am reading… Lies Women Believe – and he Truth that sets them free…

I am hoping… that it doesn’t stay cold today, although we’ve got snow flurries in our forecast this week.

I am hearing… Wow, Wow, Wubbzy on nickjr…

Around the house… will do some straightening and cleaning and get laundry done today!  LOVE clean laundry.

One of my favorite things… dishwashing gloves for sensitive skin that don’t make my hands break out!

A few plans for the rest of the week: This week is fairly free of appointments – but Curly & I are planning to pick apples on Friday!  Ooooh how I love Fall!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…

One thing I particularly love about Fall is the contrast of colors.  While we may not be able to mix and match any color to please the eye, there is something about the colors of God’s creation that complement and contrast one another in the most lovely way…

Simple Woman’s Daybook – August 10

FOR TODAY…

Outside my window… the fog is as thick as pea soup!

I am thinking… about the Shared Hope International event at my church today.  We are praying for God’s presence as we are offering a presentation to local law enforcement, as well as health and mental health professionals.  During the evening, a presentation to church members and community members will take place and we pray for God to continue to move and show us where He wants us to stand in the gap in the fight against human and sex trafficking.

I am thankful for… my very supportive and encouraging husband, Roy, who took a vacation day today to help with the girls so I can be at the church for this event.

From the kitchen… today my family is going to be eating whatever Daddy fixes them. =)

I am wearing… my red “End Demand” T-shirt and brown capri pants.

I am creating… nothing yet – it’s too early. lol.

I am going… to celebrate the end of this Psych class this coming weekend.

I am reading… 3 different books!  Not conducive to finishing any of them, but some book reviews are coming your way.

I am hoping… that the fog lifts from my brain and from the road before I have to drive to church.

I am hearing… just the A/C kicking on this morning.  Foggy and HOT. ewwww!!!

Around the house… most things are caught up in preparation for my time away today.  I do have a suggested menu for Roy, and everybody has clean clothes so they are ready for the day.

One of my favorite things… is my morning coffee.  really.

A few plans for the rest of the week: This week is a great week in the sense that my Psych class is ending and my research paper has been turned in (woohoo!!!) After the event at church today, I plan to spend tomorrow with my girls relaxing and enjoying our day together.  I hope to start painting in my kitchen this week or early next week.

Until nex time, have a LOVELY day!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook – August 3, 2009

Participating in this particular meme is so cathartic for me. It forces me to stop and consider my days. To consider my plans. And to invite God to rule my days and my plans. Even if it seems boring to you, it’s a necessary step in my blogging life.  If you have not joined in, feel free to try it today!

FOR TODAY…

Outside my window…  it is very dark and quiet.  The birds aren’t singing just yet this morning.

I am thinking…  about the colors to paint my kitchen.  Want it to be warm and inviting, but not yellow.

I am thankful for…  morning coffee or tea, and a decent night’s rest.

From the kitchen…  I will be catching up on dishes and enjoying the last of the scrumptious chocolate scones I made on Sunday.

I am wearing…  a pink Tshirt and blue shorts.

I am creating…  well, its only 5 a.m. so I’m not quite creating yet.  But I hope to be creating some calm in the chaos today for my family.

I am going…  to start my day with prayer and breakfast and see what comes next.

I am reading…  all the blogs I’ve gotten behind on.  Some really good stuff out there!

I am hoping… and praying that Roy passes his licensure exam today!

I am hearing… just my fingertips pounding away on the keyboard. =)

Around the house…  I am catching up on laundry, vacuuming, dusting, etc., from being gone several days in a row last week.

One of my favorite things…  Is to shop at Menard’s and dream about the improvements we can make on a budget for our home!

A few plans for the rest of the week:  To finish my project/paper for my psych class; to prepare for the Shared Hope International event at my church next week;  To bring together the women’s ministry newsletter for our church – I’m the new editor;  To bring peace and contentment to my family and home.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…

Caden is entering a new phase in his leukemia treatment protocol.  He has to start again on steroids (yuk!) and different kinds of chemo (I think my SIL said 3 different kinds).  His hair has grown back, but he’ll be losing it again with this phase.  His parents – and the doctors – are hoping to have him in the maintenance phase in about a year’s time.  It’s rough stuff for a 4 year old!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook: July 13

Outside my window… the birds are gathering in the yard for their morning breakfast.  It’s lovely to see the variety and to hear their morning conversation – even when I’m not quite awake enough…

I am thinking… of how amazing Grace truly is.  Without it life would mean so little to me.

I am thankful for…  a husband who is so supportive and loving and my girls.  I’m so much a better person because of the gifts they bring to my life (even if my process is a bit painful…) Read the rest of this entry »

Outside my window… a small flurry of birds scampers through our “cottage-style” garden looking for seeds and tweeting their morning greetings.

I am thinking… about how big my mouth is and how I should just tattoo “I’m Sorry I Said That” on my tongue!

I am thankful for… my hot cup of coffee.  And blogs Like A Warm Cup of Coffee. Read the rest of this entry »

Monday: The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~Updated~

I just discovered this website and thought this was a lovely idea.  I’ve participated in many different memes, but this is a little different.  In fact, the meme is currently “on hiatus” officially, but that does not prevent anyone from participating.  I invite you to visit The Simple Woman and learn more about The Simple Woman’s Daybook.  I felt like this was the perfect way to start a new week:  with thoughtful reflection…  Enjoy!

For Today…

Outside my window… sunshine on a yard of green, pinks, purples, and orangey-yellows…

I am thinking… about a day 22 years ago.  Today is the anniversary of my abortion – not something I celebrate, but something I remember.  You can read more about it here.

From the learning rooms… working on letter identification this week with both girls… Read the rest of this entry »
